Author Spotlight: Shayne McClendon

Shayne McClendon is the Jazzy World of E's Bookshelf's Author Spotlight Today. Shayne is the author behind the popular series, The Barter System. The Sixth and final book in the series, Radiance was just released. She is also the author of Gravity, Somebody, and The Hermit, to name a few. Today, we'll take a closer look at Shayne and all her books. It's my pleasure to introduce to you, Shayne McClendon

About Shayne McClendon

Born in California on a Marine base, Shayne McClendon started moving and never really stopped. A strange childhood spent all over Texas, Oklahoma, California, Nevada, and Florida gave her the nomad gene (and she never, ever apologizes for it) so her dream is to never have a permanent address.

After twenty years of working in the corporate accounting management world, being laid off (very happily) was the impetus required to send her off to pursue her dream of writing.

She writes both fiction and non-fiction (as a successful ghostwriter in the health industry) but tries to keep the creative juices flowing no matter the project.

In 2012, Shayne established herself as an indie author of uncommon erotic romances that capture the mind as well as the heart.

Her readers understand that all the webs eventually connect and wait impatiently for the next pretty piece of silk to make an appearance.

She’s best known for “The Barter System,” the first book she ever published and the anchor novel for her six-book series. Also set in “The Barter System” world are “Hudson” (book two), “Pushing the Envelope” (book three), “Backstage” (book four), “Liberation” (book five), and “Radiance” (book six). She currently has seventeen books available on Amazon and all but two are available through Kindle Unlimited.

Shayne listens to the voices in her head because their ideas are (almost) always awesome. Those around her have learned not to question the crazy. Insanity fuels the machine and caffeine keeps it happy. Coffee consumption is too high, amount of sleep is too low, but the words always feel just right.

She can be reached via email at Her website Always the Good Girl and Facebook page of the same name are wonderful places to hang out for pretty photos, short stories, and snark.

The Epic Conclusion to “The Barter System” Six-Book Series, Brie’s story at last!

Radiance by Shayne McClendon

A lightness of spirit often draws the darkness.

Gabriella Hernandez admits her irrational attraction to Harper Delkin and his bodyguard Elijah Eklund.

Despite a little bit of fear about why they want her, she can’t deny her excitement. She has no doubt they'll leave her body humming but her heart shredded.

Harper Delkin didn't like her. The woman was too emotional and dangerous to his self-control.

There was something about Gabriella that twisted him up and made him harder than he’d ever been in his lifetime.

Elijah Eklund knew the moment Harper mentioned Brie that things in their life were about to change drastically. He never suspected she would ultimately turn their world inside out or the lengths he would go to keep her.

Visit with characters you fell in love with in the other stories set in "The Barter System" universe and meet a few you are never going to forget.

Another hot, emotional read from Always the Good Girl, Shayne McClendon.

This story contains explicit sexual scenes and language and is intended for mature audiences only. Do not read this novel if explicit sexual content offends you.

Author Spotlight: Elizabeth Butts

The Jazzy World of E's Bookshelf would like you to meet Elizabeth Butts, today's Author Spotlight. Elizabeth published her first book Singleish in May of 2015. She just released her second book, Secondhand Purses on January 19th. Today, you'll meet Elizabeth, learn a little more about her and her books. It's my pleasure to introduce you to Elizabeth Butts.

Elizabeth Butts' Biography

Elizabeth Butts is a 38 year old new author who only started writing in January 2015.
She lives in West Wareham, MA with her husband, Mike, and their twelve animals. No, she has never seen the show ‘Hoarders’ and doesn’t understand why people keep asking her that.
She has been an avid reader since the age of three, and her mom always said she expected Beth would write a book.
A little gentle nudging (aka, serious kicking and shoving) from writer A. E. Murphy and Singleish was born.
One year after Singleish was started, Secondhand Purses is being published.
Elizabeth works full time as a Payroll and Benefits Manager for a popular restaurant company in Massachusetts, as well as a part time HR Manager for an Executive Functional Coaching company near Boston. She volunteers at a local animal shelter.

New From Elizabeth Butts

What happens when the one person you are trying to forget won’t let you go?

One Moment.

Once careless moment that can shred your heart and start building walls brick by brick.
It just takes one moment to change a person.

Ten years ago, Alex was a cautious teen who didn’t make friends easily. Somehow, miraculously, she found a lifelong friend and mentor. Even more miraculously, she fell in love.

Just when Alex’s world was finally turning into something she loved, her one moment happened. She went from sweet and vulnerable to snarky hard edges.

Everyone has that friend. The one who will tell you what she thinks, even if you don’t want to hear it. The one that would throw herself in front of a train for you once you were ‘in’. The one that hides her pain behind her sarcasm. That friend is Alex.

But when the center of her moment reenters her life suddenly, what is she supposed to do? Will her world implode on itself again? Will she end up in prison for murder? Or will things somehow end up like she’d always wanted?

An Excerpt from Secondhand Purses

I opened the door and nearly had a 1800s English romance novel level swoon.

I mean, seriously. Dayum.

I had to fight myself not to touch. How had I not noticed until now that Nick had tattoos? So my dream guy from my teen years has the dark Italian looks I seemed to crave, rode a motorcycle and had tattoos? My uterus was practically begging me at this point to just give it up already and make babies with this man. Or at least try to make babies. A freaking lot.

“Hey, Alex? My eyes are up here.”

Nope, pretty sure they weren’t. His teasing voice was trying to break through my thick skull as I salivated over biceps, abs and ink.

I shook my head to get the lust induced fuzz out of it, glared at him, and stepped back.

“Let me just get my purse and a bottle of water. You want one?”

“No thanks. I’ve got one in the truck.”

I turned to walk away and felt his hand wrap against my wrist. I looked down at his hand in shock, the warmth flowing up my arm from where he held on to me.

He pulled me sharply towards, him, so that I ended up falling into him.

“This seems to be our favorite position.” His voice had taken on a deeper, huskier tone. This was dangerous territory. I needed to regain control of the situation, stat. My brain was trying to pull away from him, but I imagined that my girl parts had wrapped my brain in duct tape, put a gag in its mouth and was cheering me on from the sidelines.

I reached a hand to his chest to start to push him away from me. Ugh, he definitely worked out. I looked up to start speaking and was staring up into hot chocolate eyes.

In my defense, I did push him away. A little. He must have felt it, too, because he reached up and wrapped his other hand around mine and held it tighter to his chest.

I couldn’t have torn my eyes from his if you’d paid me a million dollars. Seriously, every cell in my body was frozen in place at this moment.

Nick slowly lowered his head towards mine. My heart was pounding. Oh my God, was I about to have a heart attack? Well, I really didn’t care at this moment, it was a kind of worth dying right now, heart stopping moment.

Other Work by Elizabeth Butts

Ashley MacKillop has it all figured out. She has her boyfriend, a house, a good (if not exciting job). Everything is going according to plan, and everything is fitting into the nice, tidy, neat-freak boxes she’s created for herself.

Until he walks away. Until he says he needs a break. Until he says he’s done. But he forgot to break up with her. Was she part of a couple anymore? Was she single?

A red-wine fueled therapy session with her three closest friends has Ashley trying all sorts of things that force her to break out of her comfort zone and figure out who she is when there’s no man involved.

In the end, what defines a woman? Is it the man she’s with? Is it the friends she keeps? Is it the copious amounts of red wine that she consumes? Or is it who she is when no one is watching?

Will she decide she needs a man in her life? Will she even want him back if he were to come back?

The making of a man...
From young man to Marine...
From Marine to human...
Who learns to feel again...
Who learns to love...

Author: Scott Hildreth
Release Date: January 18, 2016
Series: Selected Sinners MC, Book VII
Cover Designer: Jessica Hildreth

My brother brought a Marine war hero home from the gym for Sunday dinner. His body was perfectly sculpted, he was a Marine, a biker, and very handsome. I immediately found him intriguing. It wasn't any of those attributes that garnered my full attention. It was when he said he protected all people - at home and abroad - that he had my interest.

Because I need protected.

There's a handful of characters that just grabs on to my heart that makes me love them forever. Alec A-Train Jacob is one of those characters. His brief but standout scenes when he popped up in Scott Hildreth's Baby Girl and Fighter Series had me hoping he would get his own book.  The newest book in the Selected Sinners gives us Alec's story.  Hard Corps, made me fall for A-train even more that i did before. You learn so much about his life that it's incredible. A man that commands attention, his word and commitment is life long. The story opens with Alec the solider, trying to survive war in 2003 and make it home to his wife. His journey from there over the years is beyond remarkable and told so well, you're transported into the pages of A-Trains life. It's an  emotional and beautiful story about a selfless man, with a big heart, who continuously will rise to the occasion for those he cares about. He will always go out and do what he believes is the right thing to do and has so much conviction about his actions that you'll see things different after seeing them through his eyes.  Scott Hildreth delivered a story that is going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I wish there were more than 5-stars, because this is one book that truly deserves it.

Born in San Diego California, Scott now calls Wichita, Kansas home. Residing in Kansas with his wife, Jessica, and six children, he somehow finds twelve hours a day to work on his writing.

Addicted to riding his Harley-Davidson, tattoos, and drinking coffee, Scott can generally be found in a tattoo shop, on his Harley, or in a local coffee house when not writing.

Loyal to the fans, fan girls, and faithful followers who allowed him to make writing a full-time career, Scott communicates with his followers on Facebook almost daily. He encourages his readers to follow him on Facebook and Twitter.
