Blog Tour & Review: blurred LINES (Bodies, Ink & Steel Series) By Scott Hildreth

Blog Tour for the #1 Best Seller, blurred LINES, Book 1 of Scott Hildreth’s NEW series, Bodies, Ink & Steel.

Book Information
Title: blurred LINES
Author: Scott Hildreth
Release Date: September 21st, 2015
Series: Bodies, Ink & Steel, Book 1
Cover Design: Jessica Hildreth

Synopsis

Blake West is the mysterious owner of Blurred Lines, a tattoo parlor that not only has provided him with a steady income, but has also supplied a steady stream of women into his life. Now, however, things for him are much different.

Riley Campbell just ended a relationship with an abusive man who enjoyed controlling her every move. Now free of his grasp, she feels the need for a celebratory tattoo, her first of what she expects to be many. Her expectations of the parlor, the artist, and the process were pretty weak when she walked in.

And then she meets Blake West.

Covered in tattoos, handsome, mysterious, and muscular, Blake West is not at all what Riley expected to find, but exactly what she feels she needs.

There’s one small problem.

Blake is a sex addict.

And he’s trying to quit.

Blurred Lines is a stand-alone erotic romance and the first book in the Bodies Ink and Steel series. It has an HEA, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, and no sharing of partners.

My Review
I love when I'm reading a book that not only surprises me because it's not what I expected, but also keeps me on my reading toes by throwing in some twists that I didn't see coming. Scott Hildreth's new book, blurred LINES does this perfectly. It's a wonderfully written story that is sweet, endearing, sexy, and erotic, mixed with dark elements all at the same time.

Blake and Riley meet at a time in their lives after they each went through a significant change. Riley, is starting a new chapter and wants get a tattoo to mark the occasion. When she enters the tattoo parlor she is surprised that Blake is nothing what she thought. He's this handsome yet boyish featured man who might be what she is looking for. Blake is taken with Riley almost immediately. She is the type of girl that he can't resist. There is something about her though that makes things different for Blake.

For me, what makes blurred LINES a story worth reading is that the relationship between Blake and Riley is not rushed. It unfolds in this organic way and reveals the multiple layers of the both of them. Blake is a character who likes to analyze the situation in hopes of approaching it with the best possible outcome. He has his quirks that is hard not to find cute, making you fall in love with him a little bit more on each page. Riley, is a force. She is living life not in a bubble for the first time and Blake is this enigmatic man that she loves spending time with. She's this guiding force for the both of them that plays out so well in this story, you will absolutely love them. You'll be waiting to turn the page to see what happens next. blurred LINES is setting the bar high for Scott Hildreth's new series, I can't wait to see where it takes it. If blurred LINES is any indication it's going to be a good one.

Excerpt from Book 2

Stevie's Book  (title coming soon)

Dying wasn’t anything I was afraid of, in fact, my life had been lived in quite the opposite manner. For as long as I could remember, living was my biggest fear. Living in a world where I was not only allowed - but required - to a make decisions that would affect me for a lifetime scared the absolute shit out of me. My greatest fears were regarding my inability to make good decisions always seemed to be related to men or relationships.

Maybe it was that I was all too eager to have what I was surrounded by - women in seemingly healthy relationships.

The thought was laughable.

I caught the first glimpse of him as he walked out of the bedroom. As I stirred my much needed coffee and peered toward him, he sauntered into the living room like he didn’t have a worry in the world. Hell, maybe he didn’t as far as he was concerned.

“Where’s your shirt?” I hollered.

His body swiveled toward my voice. Upon recognizing me, his eyes went wide. “I didn’t know where you went.”

I glanced down at his bare feet, chuckled, and shifted my eyes upward. “Well, now you know. Where’s your fucking boots?”

He tossed his head to the side. “There in your room.”

He had the body of a Greek God. Muscles on top of muscles, no body fat, a ripped mid-section, and a prominent “V” at his waist – the “Fuck me V” I preferred men to have. Well, to be honest, I required it. He described himself in the bar as being hung like a horse, and he didn’t lie in that regard.

But.

He had no sexual stamina.

I took a sip of coffee and shrugged my shoulders. “Well?”

“Well what?” he asked as he continued to walk in my direction.

“Well, you aren’t going to want to ride home like that,” I said as I nodded my head toward him. “Go get ‘em.”

“I ain’t plannin’ on leaving just yet. Thought we could go at it again,” he said with a laugh.

I nodded my head and widened my eyes comically, like he’d revealed one of the greatest ideas I had heard in the last decade. Although I hadn’t originally intended to do so, as I lowered my coffee cup, I burst into laughter.

“What?” he shrugged as he stepped into the threshold of the doorway.

I suppose most women would have at least got a little more dick from the guy. Hell, it wouldn’t have cost me anything.

Well, nothing but a little pride.

“Listen. Go grab your shit and hop on that HOG of yours and go on home,” I said as I turned toward the sink.

“Something wrong?” he asked as he walked into the kitchen.

I placed my cup on the counter and turned to face him. “Other than the fact you’re in my kitchen? No. Listen, just go.”

And it was then that he grabbed my shoulder. And it wasn’t the kind of grab that a girl likes. Not the one that makes her go weak in the knees or feel butterflies. Hell, it wasn’t even the one where a guy forces his woman to commit the act.

The way he grabbed me reminded me of my ex.
The “I’m getting what I came here for, regardless of what you just said” grab.

I spun to the side, pulled open the kitchen cabinet, grabbed my newly purchased .45 caliber Colt pistol and leveled it at his head.

“See, you could have left. You really could have,” I said as he began to walk backward.

“What the fuck…”

“’What the fuck’ is right. What the fuck did you grab me for? Huh?” I asked as I continued to force him closer to the door.

“I wanted to…”

“Shut up. Now you get to ride home barefoot. Get the fuck out,” I fumed as I tilted my head toward the door.

“Hold on,” he said. “You uhhm. Fuck, you really need to…”

“You’re all fucked up on where you are,” I said. “I make the rules in this house. You really need to go.”

“I can’t ride without my boots,” he shrugged as he continued to nervously eye the barrel of the pistol.

“You’d be surprised. Get out,” I demanded. “And I’ll leave whatever you’ve left here at the door of the bar where we met last night on my way to work.”

“You crazy little…”

“Bitch? Yeah. I am,” I said with a grin as he stumbled into the door.

“Now reach around and open it. It’s unlocked,” I said as I nodded my head toward the door.

“You’re really going to…”

“Yeah, really,” I said as I reached past him with my free hand and opened the door.

“Crazy bitch,” he said over his shoulder as he walked to his Harley.

“You fuck like a girl,” I said as I slammed the door.

I set the pistol on the counter as I walked into the kitchen. After warming my cold coffee in the microwave I made some toast, sat down, and began to eat my light breakfast. Half a dozen beers, a few margaritas, and who knows what afterward had led to a night that was a blur of a memory at best, and now my stomach was in turmoil; anything more than toast and I’d yack for sure.

And I hated barfing just about as much as I hated men with no stamina.

As the sound of his Harley faded into the distance, it was almost as if a small part of my confidence went with him. A girl with my looks, body, sexual appetite, and my attitude should be able to find a man compatible with her.

But try as I might, I seemed to always choose losers.

I had decided after leaving Bart that the next man I settled down with was going to treat me right, fuck me right, and be able to stand on his own two feet without my income as a crutch.

And I really didn’t care how many men I had to force out of my house at gunpoint to find him.

Blog Tour: Chasing Happy by Rylie Roberts

Title: Chasing Happy
Series: Texas Desires #1
Author: Rylie Roberts
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: September 15, 2015

Reed Prescott’s life is complicated enough before a silly little girl in outrageous high heels bites it in front of his moving vehicle. With no other choice, he forces her out of the pouring rain and inside his car. His concern isn’t necessarily with her safety, but to ward off any potential lawsuit.
Lara Hunter’s life is headed in the right direction. With a good education, a great new job, and her dear best friend, Kade, by her side, nothing can get in her way until a freak rain storm leaves her sprawled across the road in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour traffic. When the gorgeous man in the business suit and too expensive car takes her back to his office, she’s not entirely sure she appreciates his high-handed helpfulness.
When Reed's assistant finishes with Lara, he finds his entire world rocked by the captivating beauty underneath that soggy exterior. From day one, Reed's success in business has always been fueled by a deep, unbreakable hate for his grandfather. So when the potential for love stands in front of him, can this hardened man find a way to chase his own happiness?

“Rylie Roberts's storytelling voice is great to read. I was given this book. I very much enjoy this story. I look forward to more stories from Rylie Roberts. I am so glad I got to read this book, I think you will be too. Give a new author a try; it will be well worth your time.” ~ Goodread Reviewer
“This was a solid start from a debut writer. It touched on some deeper, darker topics than I expected, and it captivated me enough that I am looking forward to more in this series.” ~ BJs Book Blog
“Captivating...Addicting...Masterful debut novel by Rylie Roberts. Rylie brings her characters to life and made me fall in love with Reed and Lara on every page. Sexy...Lustful....Passionate between the steamy scenes and meaningful topics Chasing Happy makes for an all around amazing read.” ~ Swoon Worthy Books

Chasing Happy by Rylie Robertd is one of those books I couldn't put down and was glad I had the Kindle App on my phone. Every time I had a spare moment I would continuing reading. I couldn't get enough of Reed and Lara's story. From their first fateful and somewhat dangerous meeting on a rain soaked Dallas street to  their first date, I was captivated by their attraction and constant push and pull.   There were times when I loved both characters and also wanted to shake them as ask what they were doing. The way everything plays out in the story you can help but get caught up in it. Chasing Happy is story of what happens if you finally give in to the possibly of loving someone. Are they able to let go and find love? You'll just have to pick it up and see.

Riley Roberts delivers a fantastic debut novel. As you're reading it, you forget that she is a new author and this is her first book. She tells Reed and Lara's story so effortlessly. She perfectly blends a contemporary romance that is sexy, funny, with a mix of dark secrets that you can't help but love. I can't wait to read more from Rylie Roberts.

Rating: 5-Stars

“What? Do you want me to say you’re my first to get you back in there? Not even you can be that naïve.” She figured those hurtful words had the impact he’d intended. She reached for the only thing she saw, pushed and a small door opened with a single button inside. She reached in hoping that called the elevator, but he knocked her hand away.

“I need the elevator; I’m going home.” She almost yelled those words.

“Fuck, Lara, what the fuck’s your problem? It’s sex. Adults have it all the time. You want me. I want you.” He yelled those words right in her face. When she tried to press the button again, he reached out and knocked her hand away a second time. She went for the phone on one of the desks, but he was right behind her, slamming the phone down. “You’re a fucking cock tease. You’ve been giving me the signals all fucking week.”

She schooled her facial features at his words. They were getting more derogatory with each comment he made. He was mad, but no longer pushing her to perform. Instead, he walked away, muttering, “I could have brought anyone up here tonight. You fucking wore that fucking dress, flashing me those fucking tits all goddamn night, and now you get a conscience?”

Lara wanted out. She went for the call button and the elevator doors opened. She rushed on, fighting the tears his stinging words caused. “Goddammit! You’re fucking pissing me off.”

He darted across the foyer, sticking a hand between the closing elevator doors. He entered, quickly working a hidden keypad on the inside. He left the elevator and the doors didn’t shut. Even when she reached out to push the close button, they remained open. He came back into view, and she moved to the far side of the elevator, wiping a stray tear away before it fell. He stepped back inside, this time with his suit jacket on.

“What are you doing?”

“You aren’t walking home alone.” He punched another code into the keypad. The elevator doors shut and they began to descend.

“I don’t want you to walk me home,” she said defiantly.

“I don’t care.” He stood at the front of the elevator and she stood in the back. Neither said another word. He walked out first, keeping his distance. She ignored him as he exited through his private entrance. She went the other direction through the parking garage. He frustratingly met her on the street at the front of the building. At the street corner, she was so disgruntled by his presence she didn’t see the car until Reed took her arm, hoisting her back on the sidewalk as it passed by.

She’d have rather been hit by the car than to have him touching her again. She yanked her arm free with such force she stumbled several feet.

“You’re a hard-headed, stubborn little thing.” Once on the street, she walked the distance to her apartment with him by her side. Aggravated, she whipped around when he entered her building.

“Why are you following me? I’m not having sex with you at my apartment either,” she stated, trying for a cutting remark. Every eye in the foyer turned their way.

“Yeah, that offer’s off the table now, babe. You don’t play fair,” he said, following her inside a waiting elevator.
