Sally Owens was content to spend her life hiding in plain sight, as long as no one got too close or tried to wrestle the reigns away from her that is…
When she goes out for a night on the town to troll for the new Mr. Right Now, getting kidnapped and shipped out into space was NOT what she had in mind. But above all else Sally is a survivor and she soon comes up with a plan to thrive in this new world.
Arkenon Quinn, Courtesan Guild Master on the planet of Sirus, is informed that one of the new human refugees wants to join the Courtesan Guild and he was of course curious. However, when he meets the audacious and beautiful Sally he finds himself signing up to be the one to mentor her against his better judgement. What he could never have anticipated was how quickly this fascinating creature would steal his heart and force him to do something he’s never had to do before- chase a female.
Will Sally’s painful past keep her from finding a future with the man who’s like no other she’s ever met? Or will she have the strength to place her body and soul in Arkenon’s extremely capable hands?

WLK Author Bio
Sarah Marsh - Logo
The Coalition Mates series is a science fiction romance with a liberal amount of humour thrown in, my goal with these books was to create something light and fun, with a good bit of grumble and grunt… who doesn’t enjoy that right?
I’ll tell you a little about myself before the book excerpts. I live in British Columbia, Canada; I have all my life. I went to culinary school and studied Pastry Arts, working as a Pastry Chef in Vancouver for five years. But the commute into the city got to me and I had to change careers back to an office.  I still work full time; I now work for a sporting goods wholesaler in accounting…which is where my twitchy creative side began to get restless…and as my Baba used to say, “Idle hands are the Devils playthings.” Or in my case, idle hands get me into all sorts of trouble; so I go a little bananas on the hobby side of things. I still love to cook and bake, I do a large amount of recipe creating and the boys at work certainly appreciate being sacrificed as taste testers. I am also a stress knitter, to the point that I had to open my own Etsy shop to unload some of the scarves I make. Realistically there’re only so many scarves a gal can make and keep for herself before people start to judge you…. I also paint when the muse hits me, mostly abstract in acrylics. I love to garden and grow things, have a weakness for all animals, and an un-natural obsession for making jam. I literally made 24 different kinds of jam last summer, it’s a bit of a problem….but there’s just so many different kinds you can create! Who am I to say no to see what Tiger’s Blood jam would taste like? (it’s strawberry, watermelon and coconut by the way….and it was AMAZEBALLS.)
I’ve always had a love of reading, science fiction and paranormal genres have always fascinated me, so once I found myself addicted to romance novels it really only made sense that the sci fi romance genre drew me like a moth to a flame. I only started writing about a year ago, it took me a long time to get Sarah’s Crew to the point where I would let someone else read what I was writing, let alone send it into a publisher. But eventually I did and after one fairly nice rejection I moved on and found Siren. I’ve been so impressed at how supportive and helpful all the other Siren authors have been through this entire process, I’m a little on the shy side so the social media and marketing part of the writing process has been intimidating to say the least. My goal is to keep working on my writing skills and to hopefully improve with each book, and I hope that anyone who reads them enjoys the world that I’m trying to create!

Author Bio

I have been writing since elementary school, by never learning to print as a child, and having to learn cursive writing inspired me to write a lot as a youth. Writing my first novella at only 10, and staying in the 100 page realm for a long time, finally getting a push from my wife to create more elaborate stories here I am. Growing up all over the Midwest and traveling extensively you will always find some truth in all the stories I write.

I love to write in a variety of different genres and enjoy reading a lot of different story types as well. I love 80's movies, Bruce Lee Marathons, all things horror and zombies. I also love to hear from and interact with the fans and other authors so always feel free to say hi and share your kind thoughts.

Excerpt
“You’re quiet,” Ruin said, wishing she was just a bit closer. She didn’t answer and Ruin grimaced when the coordinates on his assignment bit into his ribs telling him they were close. Where could they possibly be going? “Are you thirsty?” He was ready to stop and find a reason to get near her before the assignment. Something said this homework wasn’t going to be easy. Still no answer from her. “Come on, you’re not going to talk to me? Ever?” “Why should I?” she mumbled. “Well, I was more helpful than this on your assignments.” “You do not need me and you know it,” she muttered again. He took a deep breath, glad the following was true and even said it with pride. “I do need you.” “No you don’t,” she said, positively. “Yes, I do.” “No. You don’t.” “Yes. I do.” “No you don’t.” Her quick response and monotone said she was prepared to repeat it another thousand times, no problem. Ruin shook his head. “You’re so damn obstinate. And for what? Because I don’t know what love is? Are you sure you should fault me for that? Seeing as I’m not really human?” She gave a light miffed noise but he sensed an advantageous break in her wall. “I assure you if I were entirely human I’d know what it is you think I should know.” “What should you know?” She looked at him now. “Say it.” “What love is.” She squinted her eyes and turned away like she’d expected him to have a hard time answering what it was that he didn’t know. “Don’t you see that because I have no issue saying I don’t love you it’s actually a good thing?” She did that head swivel thing again, squinting at him. “Come again?” “I mean if me not knowing love was bad, then I’d know it if I could.” She turned her squinty gaze forward. “Wait… so it’s good that you don’t love me because if you did, it’d be bad?” “What? No. If it was bad that I didn’t love you, I’d know. I don’t feel like it’s bad.” She gasped. “Well I feel like it’s bad! What about how I feel! Is this all about the awesome and powerful Ruin with the endless muscles and-and sexy green eyes and wiley ways with women?” He couldn’t keep from smiling and she jabbed a finger at him. “And then you laugh at those misfortunate enough to be ensnared by your sick bag of tricks, laugh at people who are…” She turned toward the window and Ruin wanted to stab his eyes out at the way her voice went hoarse and she couldn't finish her words. “Isadore, I am sorry that you’re hurt. I wouldn’t say that if I wasn’t, you know that.” “Well whoop tee doo,” she barely managed in a tiny voice. “You’re sorry. You’re sorry that my heart is ripped into a bazillion pieces and thrown in the trash.” “Angel,” Ruin whispered around the stabbing pressure in his chest. “I don’t like that I don’t love you any more than you do.” “Stop!” she gasped, looking at him like he was a monster. “My God, stop saying it! I can’t stand it. I’d rather be shot in the ear than hear it. At least then I might actually die instead of having this stupid hole in my chest that doesn’t bleed, it just sits there like a stupid hole with no reason but to… make me wish I was dead.” “Jesus—“ “Don’t you dare say that name to me,” she shot out, “you don’t even believe in God.” She jabbed her finger repeatedly, as though realizing something. “And that is no doubt why you are broken, mister. You are broken because you are defiant against God.” She nodded incessantly before turning away with a tiny squeaking, “And here I go falling in love with you.” She tossed her hands in her lap. “Falling in love with a broken angel, that’s me. Can’t do anything right, always manage to find a way to fuck shit up.” She wiped her face with the back of her arms. Her pain was suffocating him and he rolled down the window to breathe around it. “How is it that I hurt the one I need to protect more than my own life?” he wondered to himself. “Like a puppy, that’s what I am to you. A clown puppy. Pathetic and weird who likes to mop her problems out, and dissect mice brains and say it’s to help save the world when really it’s to try and figure out what’s so wrong with me that nobody can love me.” “Fuck, Isadore! Stop!” he gasped. You’re so wrong.” But so much of what she said was true and frustration to analyze which, tore him. “I don’t even like animals!” “Oh,” she cried lightly, flopping her hands again, “and he misses the bloody point.” “Well quit saying things that don’t apply.” “Well I thought you studied your goddamn idioms!” The words growled out like a rabid dog as Ruin pulled into a parking lot. “Now, what are you doing?” she whispered pitifully, wiping her eyes, looking around. “This is it.” “A…retirement home? A retirement home is your assignment? Are you supposed to kill old people or something?” Like she’d lose her mind if that were anywhere in the assignment. Too bad he was sure it was.     If you've missed out on the beginning of this series you can get them on Amazon, and the second book Revelations is on sale for $.99.

“Nice shoes,” a deep voice said from beside me. I almost spit my drink out in surprise. Only two inches away from my face stood a man with chocolate colored eyes and short brown hair that stuck up all over his head as if he had just rolled out of bed. I detected some sort of Hispanic descent in his good looks. He wore a pair of khakis and a tight long-sleeved black t-shirt. He actually seemed normal compared to all the Barbie and Ken dolls around me, and it made me feel at ease. I took a step back so that our faces weren’t so close. “Yeah, I reckon heels aren’t really my thing,” I replied and took another sip from my cup. He chuckled and folded his hands across his chest, one hand stroking his chin as if he were studying me.
“Whiskey...high tops...no French manicure...”
He picked up one of my hands and studied it. Shocked by the way my heart sped when he touched me, I pulled it out of his grasp. I could feel my face turning red, but I willed my breathing to slow down and hoped that he couldn’t see me blush under all of the makeup. He was quite literally the most striking man I’d ever laid eyes on. The reaction from my body was pure agony. I wanted him, needed him. My loneliness was getting the best of me. No. You don’t need him as a distraction. You need a job, a hobby. He is the last thing you need. You’re having a whiskey reaction.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you,” he said. I forced myself to look away from his smirk, and finished off the drink in my hand. I turned around and asked the bartender to fill me up again. The drink had already started to affect me, make me loosen up, but I needed a little more to help me with the anxiety.
Say something. Don’t just stand there!
“Don’t worry about it,” I mumbled and picked up my filled glass. I was surprised that he was still standing there; I allowed myself to sneak another peek from the corner of my eye. From the way he carried himself he was a bit older than me, maybe in his mid-twenties. The way he laughed and his body language told me that he was charismatic, a charmer. This guy was persistent!
“I’m Chase,” he said, holding out his hand. I reluctantly took it, afraid that he could see how unnerved I was.
“Quinn, nice to meet you.” He didn’t seem to notice my hand trembling as he lifted it up to his lips to place a light kiss on it. He gave me a slight wink that made me go weak in the knees. I was glad that I had high tops on my feet to steady me. Toughen up, Quinn. You can talk to a guy. But only talk. I took another big gulp of my liquid courage.
“So Quinn, how do you know Gillian?” He reached out to pick a piece of lint off my shoulder. I narrowed my eyes in on him. Why was he touching me?
“Oh, I don’t know her. I’m here with a friend.” I forced myself to look into his eyes, to show him that I wasn’t intimidated.
“Who?” he asked
“Ginger Teague,” I told him. He continued with his inquisition, to which I gave short answers.
“You a party crasher?”
I raised an eyebrow and answered, “No, I was invited.”
“An actress?”
  “No.”
“Model?”
I scoffed at his question; as if I had the looks to be a model. “Uh, no...” I shook my head in disbelief.
“Who are you then? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. I wouldn’t forget your face.”
I didn’t know what to say. It had been so long since I’d had any male attention. He probably wouldn’t give me the time of day if he found out who I was or how much baggage I carried.
“Interesting, huh?”
“What?” I asked
“This party. I bet you have never been so star struck.”
Was this guy for real?
“I don’t know who any of these people are.”
“Well then, it’s high time you found out.” He leaned in close and motioned toward the three blonde girls Ginger had introduced me to earlier.
“Those three bimbos are twiddle dee, dumb, and twit.”
I spit my drink back out into my cup, almost choking from laughter.
“Did you call her a twit?”
“Damn straight. Though I’m not sure if it is from her lack of common sense or her twitter addiction.”
This was kind of fun. My eyes scanned the room for our next victim
“What about him?” I pointed toward an older balding man with a twenty-something on his arm.
“Ah, yes. That is Jordan one of our writers. The girl on his arm just screwed her way up to a leading character.”
“Isn’t that a bit… unethical?”
“Everyone in Hollywood is unethical, my dear.”
That was my cue to leave. I didn’t need guys like him.
“As much as I want to continue on with this flirty banter, I really must get going.” I boldly stuck my drink in his empty hand and spun around on my heels.
