Riley Campbell just ended a relationship with an abusive man who enjoyed controlling her every move. Now free of his grasp, she feels the need for a celebratory tattoo, her first of what she expects to be many. Her expectations of the parlor, the artist, and the process were pretty weak when she walked in.

And then she meets Blake West.

Covered in tattoos, handsome, mysterious, and muscular, Blake West is not at all what Riley expected to find, but exactly what she feels she needs.

There’s one small problem.

Blake is a sex addict.

And he’s trying to quit.

Blurred Lines
is a stand-alone erotic romance and the first book in the Bodies Ink and Steel series. It has an HEA, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, and no sharing of partners.

My Review
I love when I'm reading a book that not only surprises me because it's not what I expected, but also keeps me on my reading toes by throwing in some twists that I didn't see coming. Scott Hildreth's new book, blurred LINES does this perfectly. It's a wonderfully written story that is sweet, endearing, sexy, and erotic, mixed with dark elements all at the same time.

Blake and Riley meet at a time in their lives after they each went through a significant change. Riley,  is starting a new chapter and wants get a tattoo to mark the occasion. When she enters the tattoo parlor she is surprised that Blake is nothing what she thought. He's this handsome yet boyish featured man who might be what she is looking for.  Blake is taken with Riley almost immediately. She is the type of girl that he can't resist. There is something about her though that makes things different for Blake.

For me, what makes blurred LINES a story worth reading is that the relationship between Blake and Riley is not rushed. It unfolds in this organic way and reveals the multiple layers of the both of them.  Blake is a character who likes to analyze the situation in hopes of approaching  it with the best possible outcome. He has his quirks that is hard not to find cute, making you fall in love with him a little bit more on each page. Riley, is a force. She is living life not in a bubble for the first time and Blake is this enigmatic man that she loves spending time with. She's this guiding force for the both of them that plays out so well in this story, you will absolutely love them. You'll be waiting to turn the page to see what happens next. blurred LINES is setting the bar high for Scott Hildreth's new series, I can't wait to see where it takes it. If blurred LINES is any indication it's going to be a good one.

Review: Surviving Goodbye by Morgan Parker

Surviving Goodbye
Morgan Parker

Synopsis

In the final hours of her life, Elliot Fitch’s wife confesses that he is not the biological father to their 16-year old daughter.

Surviving Goodbye follows Elliot’s collision course with Fate as he embarks on a journey to locate his daughter’s real father. When Elena, now seventeen years old, announces her unplanned pregnancy and the father’s unwillingness to play a role in their child’s upbringing, Elliot faces an ironic dilemma about the true meaning of parenthood and the roles we play in the lives of others, particularly those we love and who love us in return.

Review

It is not every day that I read a book and I'm only 60 pages in when I want to recommend it to people to read. In fact that list of books is small. They deserve more than Five-stars and an A+. These are the books that stick with you. They touch you in a way that you feel you can't really express it in words. You want your friends and anyone you know who loves books to read this book because, that is the only way to really grasp how special the book is.

Surviving Goodbye by Morgan Parker is one of these books. It has been a long time since I was so invested in a book that I took my time to read. I didn't want to rush it. I wanted to drink in every word. Parker's story about Elliot Finch, a man who finds out that he is not the biological father of his daughter on his wife's death bed is a brilliant story.  Elliott spends the next year depressed and angry at his wife. How could someone he loved so much do this to him? He makes it his mission to find out the truth about his daughter's biological father. The mission becomes more urgent for him when his 17 year-old daughter Elena, announces she pregnant. During this crazy time for him he meets  delivery driver Veronica,  a young woman who shows an interest in Elliot and offers to help out him out in his search. Along the way, Veronica might just be the thing he needs to start living again.

What happens over 300 pages is a story you are never going to forget, with an ending that I am still thinking about weeks later.  Morgan Parker masterfully weaves a story that will make you feel a spectrum of emotions. You will get angry, laugh, cry, love, and have hope. His characters are smart, witty, funny and you will fall in love with them. Surviving Goodbye is a beautiful and breathtaking story that I'm going to think about for a long time. So Bravo to you Morgan Parker, on writing a book that is perfect to this reader.

Review: The Spice of Life: Book 1: The Transformation by Jake Furie Lapin

Synopsis

The Spice of Life (or TSOL, to fans) follows Jake Furie Lapin, a 37-year-old sexaholic and loving Dom. As the first book in a three-part series, TSOL explores Jake’s transformation from a submissive, out-of-shape man, stuck in a sexless marriage, to a strong, successful, fit, loving Dom. This first book follows Jake as he describes his many sexual adventures, in great detail, to Kelli, his sex therapist.

Kelli Lemberg is a successful sex therapist who has an office-based practice in Manhattan. Like Jake, Kelli finds herself trapped in a marriage that is lacking heat and passion. Through her sex therapy sessions with Jake, Kelli begins to undergo an amazing transformation of her own, as she uncovers and explores the depths of her own inner sexuality and sensual fire.
Review

If you are looking for an intriguing, sexy, and entertaining read, The Spice of Life: Book 1: The Transformation by Jake Furie Lapin is the book for you. While the story is about Jake's transformation, we first meet Kelli Lemberg, a sex therapist who's own sex life is non existent. Tired of the rut in her life she decides to try something new, but it doesn't quite go like she thought.  As she's out with her best friend one night, she meets Jake Furie Lapin in a bar. They strike up a conversation and Kelli is drawn to him. As the evening continues Jake finds out that Kelli is a sex therapist and asks to be a patient, which she agrees.

What transpires from there is a series of sessions between Jake and Kelli. As the story progress, it's easy to get transported in to Lapin's story. You are in the office with Kelli as she listens to Jake talk about the different life events that have lead him to the man he is today and his life as a Dom. Like Kelli, you eagerly await the next session, wanting to know more about Jake. Who is this confident man that, that starts to awaken Kelli's own desires? With each session you're drawn in more and more. You can't stop turning the pages and want to see what happens not only to Jake as he retells details of his life, but the strong connection Kelli and Jake have.

Lapin does a great job moving the story along and keeping the reader engaged and entertained. I wanted to know more and when I got to the end, I wished I had the second book in the series.  I'm looking forward to read the next books in the series and continue to learn more about Jake and Kelli.  If you want something new to read that is different, check out The Spice of Life: Book 1: The Transformation by Jake Furie Lapin.

Review: Empathy by Ker Dukey

Synopsis
Blake
I am a brother
I am a police detective
I am a contract killer
I don’t want to love
I don’t want to feel
I don’t want … EMPATHY.

They say some people are born with decreased activity in the front central lobe causing them a deficiency in empathy. Maybe that’s true about me but whether I was born this way or created in a moment of evil, empathy was something I didn’t possess until her green eyes met mine in the mirror and I couldn’t take her life.
I didn’t want to feel, didn’t want this woman in my life complicating how I lived but she was there at every turn. Sent to haunt me for my sins. Her light so bright she provoked a shadow from everyone she touched. When a job turns bad quickly altering my life forever I’m forced to feel. When nothing is making sense I’m forced to face truths I never would recover from. When life drowns you in its cruelty you don’t know which way the current will drag you or who you’ll become once you re-surface.

Melody:

I was a daughter
I was a student
I was a victim
Did I have his love?
Did I make him feel?
Did I have his empathy?
When the actions of a soulless killer forces sorrow into my veins I never dreamed the man healing my wounds would be the one to leave the worst scar. His love would scar my soul. Scars are permanent; I will never feel the relief from them. Will I learn to live with them, remember why I have them and learn never to let him close enough to inflict more? Will I eventually cover them… like tattoos coating them with new memories, new love and new starts? I didn’t know these answers because the pain was too suffocating, the only thing I knew was they will always be under the surface lingering. He had scars too, from his sins. There is nothing that can cover them, they were too deep, too ugly, too dark and they marked us both forever.

Review
Empathy by Ker Dukey is phenomenal dark romance,  story that will keep you guessing till the very end. Dukey writes it in a way that you're pulled in and need  to keep turning the pages to see what is going to happen. As to be expected by now, Dukey has given us three complex characters, Melody and brother's Blake and Ryan. Tragic circumstances have lead them together. Melody and Ryan as friends, while Melody and Blake have this dance of attraction, hate, and passion.

What unfolds leaves you reeling and going "what?" as you read this book. Empathy is a story you have to read. There are so many twists, turns and revelations, you don't know what's going to happen next. It has been a long time since I've read a book that offered such a psychological  element to it. This is what I love about it. It's not a predictable story whatsoever. Dukey leads you down one path before she turns you around and pulls the rug from under you.

Ker Dukey is gifted when it comes to the written word. Empathy proves it once again. It's  going to be a long time before I stop thinking about this book. Empathy should be the next book you read.

Review: Whiter Than White by G.G. Carver

Synopsis

Life is a rat race, and Elena White is stuck on the treadmill.
She's been living on autopilot, a slave to the 9-5 routine - until a chance meeting with an old school friend serves as the catalyst that changes Elena's life in a way she could never have imagined.

Dazzled by her friends self assured confidence, Elena makes an innocent attempt to break from the monotony, and the repercussions send her on a roller coaster of emotions, smashing predictability to pieces, leaving her life anything but predictable.

Review
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading Whiter Than White by G.G. Carver, you should make it the next book you read. I bought the book on a recommendation from a friend and I couldn't put it down. From the first moment when you meet Elena, you want to know more about her and root for her along the way.  After a chance meeting with a old friend changes her life, she goes on a journey that affects her in many ways.

Along the way she meets Conrad, the attraction this two have is palpable and leaps off the page. The dynamic of Elena and Conrad together, will make them one of your new favorite book couples. After one particular part, you'll never look at yogurt the same way ever again. As they get to know each other they both learn that life isn't easy and everyone has a past or situation that can tear them apart. Will they be able to overcome the past and present obstacles from the outside? You'll just have to read it and see.

The detail in the writing by Carver is one of the main reasons this is a standout story for me. The way he describes the settings and characters transports you into the book. Whiter Than White is a well written story that should be read.  Carver has done an excellent job with his debut novel. I'm looking forward to reading more from him. Go one-click this book today, you won't be disappointed.

When both twins come in and out of Meadows life, leaving damage and hurt in their wake, will she ever choose one or the other, or leave them both without the beats in their heart?…

Review

After reading The Beats in Rift, I'm convinced that Ker Dukey has the Midas touch when it comes to writing.  She has once again delivered a story full of emotion that will keep you turning the pages.  The bond between Meadow and Jared and Justin Jacob is a powerful one, but it is at times heartbreaking. The dynamic push and pull between these three takes you on a ride you won't forget.

Meadow is a caught in the fray, but her love for the brothers remains true. While the love for each is strong, outside influences threaten it over the years. Will they be able to recover from it and get back to where they started? Well, you'll just have to read to find out.

Dukey is great at giving you characters you instantly fall in love with. Meadow, Jared, and Justin are well developed characters that you want to know more about. The dynamic in this love triangle is unique and makes The Beats in Rift a standout. You can't go wrong with this book. The Beats in Rift is one book you'll want to 1-click right away.

Review: Persephone (Daughters of Zeus Book 1) by Kaitlin Bevis

Synopsis
There are worse things than death, worse people too.
The "talk" was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they're a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn't until Boreas, the god of winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.

Review

Persephone (Daughters of Zeus Book 1) by Kaitlin Bevis is a fantastic modern take on the Greek story of Persephone and Hades.  Persephone thinks she's your normal teenager despite some odd things lately.  When she finds out she is not human but a goddess, her whole world turns upside down. Fleeing to get some clarity on the situation she runs into Boreas the God of Winter who tries to abduct her. Hades appears in the nick of time and saves Persephone. When Hades kisses her to help get her to safety, Persophone's world is again changed for the second time.

What unfolds from there is a modern twist to this age old story. Hades isn't the person you expect from previous stories about him. In fact he is incredibly smart, caring, and handsome. As their relationship grows you can't help but love reading about these two. Of course there are obstacles along the way, Boreas is still after her and there are some twists that you don't see coming.

Kaitlin Bevis really does a great job with her retelling of Perseohone and Hades' story. If you have some knowledge of Greek Mythology it's interesting to see how she puts her own unique spin on it. If you're not familiar this story, this book will lead you to Google looking for more information about these two. I personally can't wait to start the next book in the series to see where Bevis takes the story.
You'll definitely want to one-click Persephone by Kaitlin Bevis.

Review: Little Black Dress by Jake Malden

 Synopsis
Aaron and Carly are a model couple – young, loving, sexy and on the point of moving in together. But Carly harbours a secret – a single rash act at the fashion company for which she works. Her boss Miranda, ruthless and sexually voracious, has knowledge of Carly’s crime and has been biding her time.

The trap she’s about to spring will put the couple through a crazy erotic ordeal which will shake their relationship to its foundations. A high price to pay, for a Little Black Dress.

Review
Jake Malden has once again delivered another hot, sexy, story with Little Black Dress. I couldn't put this story down and loved every page of it. Carly gets herself in quite the predicament over a little black dress. When her boss Miranda finds out she uses it to her advantage. In one day, Carly and her boyfriend Aaron's life is going to change.  What unfolds is a one hot story that you won't forget.

I have to say Miranda is a character you'll love to hate. Out of all of Malden's characters, Miranda is a major standout for me. She takes wicked to the next level. Malden, knows how to write a story and he proves that again with Little Black Dress. This is definitely worthy of the 1-click.

Amazon  Barnes & Noble

H.S Strickland's debut novel, The Lucky Bullet, is a gem. The story of Ray, a doctor and single mother, and Mace, a man who's life is spent protecting and taking care of others is a great one.  You wouldn't ever think of getting shot as lucky, but the circumstance brings these two together. Ray is the doctor on duty when Mace comes in after being shot while working a case. The attraction is instant for the two. Their first meeting is one of my favorite parts of the book.

The best way to describe Ray and Mace's relationship is like a shot. It's so quick and instantaneous that you're on this whirlwind with them. When you think things are going well, Ray's past comes back to haunt not only her but Mace as well. Will they be able to move forward from  their past and have an happily ever after? You just have to read to find out.

What makes this a standout debut novel for me is the characters and the relationships in it. Ray is a strong, smart, woman. Mace is the ultimate protector, willing to do whatever it takes to take care of his loved ones.  He will most likely be your next BBF. Their family and friends are people you want to know as well. When you want to know more about the supporting characters in a book, you know the author has done a good job.  One of the things I loved about this story is Ray's son, Liam.  You can't help but fall in love with that little boy, with his enthusiasm and love for his mother and those around him.

All the pieces H.S. Strickland puts together in this novel makes it a book you want to read. You want to turn the pages and see what happens between Ray and Mace. They are a couple you can't help but love and root for.

Go one-click The Lucky Bullet today. You'll be glad you did.

I pushed off the counter and stalked toward her; I bent down and lightly touched my mouth to hers. She sighed and pushed closer to me, wrapping her arms around my neck. I deepened the kiss, tracing her tongue with mine. She tasted of chocolate and mints, it was a wild combination but I couldn’t get enough. I hoisted her up on the kitchen counter, taking everything she was giving me. I started to slide my hand toward hear ass when I heard footsteps. I pulled away fast because I knew Liam would be in here in three...two...one...

“Mommy, are we gonna have dinner with Mr. Mace yet? I’m hungry.” He complained. Ray looked at me and quirked an eyebrow.

“It's almost done buddy, just got to wait on it to warm up some more.” He looked up at me with a curious look on his face, and I knew what was next.

“Are you my mommy’s boyfriend? She has never had a boyfriend, she needs one. She’s always at work or with me.” He wrinkled up his nose, thinking. I looked at Ray.

She had her head bowed and I could see around her curtain of hair that her cheeks were reddening. After a few seconds she looked at Liam and said, “That’s not true baby, I see Nanny and your uncles all the time. Mommy doesn’t need a boyfriend; I want to spend all my time with you.” She hopped down from the counter and gave him a kiss on the head.

“Yes. I am your mom’s boyfriend, buddy. Are you okay with that?” I asked. Both of their heads snapped up fast at the sound of my voice.

Liam spoke first, “Oh! That’s awesome! Does that mean I can ride your motorcycle? I really want to ride it. I want one when I get as big as you are!” He exclaimed

H.S. Strickland is from a small town in South GA called Brunswick. She moved to SC when she was in her early teens and just recently made the move to Florida. She dragged her daughters, husband, and kitty along with her. H.S. has always had a passion for reading, but recently starting writing, although it has always been a dream. Her Nanny always told her to follow her dreams, which is how she got into writing. That and her characters were nagging to have their stories told. If you can't find H.S. behind the keyboard making magic, you will find her chasing her daughters around the house. If not that then curled in her big red comfy chair reading. She loves alpha-males who are almost ass holes, but still have a sweet spot for their woman. She has loved the entire journey to where she is now and couldn't thank y'all enough!

When I read a series, usually the first book always ends up being my favorite because it's starts the story. After reading Cover Up, I can say it is my favorite in the Cover Series so far.  Cover Up is a brilliant follow up that shines bright. It picks up right after the cliffhanger in Discovered. Emily is in the hospital unconscious following her accident. Julien is  by her side as he waits for her to regain consciousness.  When she wakes, Emily and Julien's world is turned upside down. Emily has amnesia and thinks she is still with Adam and doesn't know who Julien is. I don't want to give away too much because I don't want to spoil it for you.  What unfolds from there is a story full of twists, emotions, some shocking revelations, and another cliffhanger that will leave you saying "what?" as you read it.

One of the things I really loved about reading Cover Up was the three point of views that Kim Black incorporates into the story. The addition of Adam's view rounds out the story very well.  Sometimes having multiple views can get confusing, but Kim does a great job balancing all three.  You get to know Emily, Julien, and Adam more because of it. I also loved the development of the supporting characters, Suzy, Shane, and especially Diana. After reading Cover Up, I want to know more about them.

Kim Black's Cover Up is an excellent story. She takes you on another wild ride that keeps you hooked from the first sentence to the last. I can't wait to read the next books in the series and see how the story ends. This book is definitely worthy of the one-click.

Slowly, he rounded the bed and placed me down in its center. He stood above me, taking me in with pure hunger and adoration in his eyes. A flash of him doing the same thing came to mind and I grew confident with the memory, tugging at my pants to remove them. I wanted him inside of me, now. “Tsk, tsk, tsk… Patience,” he scolded when I got the unbelievably tight pants to my ankles. “I plan on taking you nice and slow tonight.” He moved my hands away from the garment, which pooled at my feet, and slowly, painfully, tugged them off. He took his time to free each foot. His ravenous eyes never left mine as he lifted my butt and yanked the thin fabric of my panties off in one swift sweep. God I love an animalistic man … in the sack of course. I wanted him desperately. I couldn’t explain why, but something about him, about this place just called to me. It was like…a magnet, a pull that I couldn’t escape. Escape Em’! You don’t sleep around with strange men on the first night you meet! I couldn’t stop now. I needed the confirmation. I needed to know that he was, in fact, the same man who invaded my dreams night after night. The same man who had made my body sing with just a simple look, a slight touch, or damn it, by just fucking standing in front of me like was right now. There were so many questions – questions that I needed answers to. Leaning back on the soft plush bed, I watched as he slowly crept his way up my body like an animal staking its prey. Lifting my leg up, he planted soft sensual kisses at my ankle, sending my body completely ablaze at the slightest graze of his lips. The simple touch sparked a new flood of moisture at my core. Who knew my ankles were this sensitive.

Kim was born and raised in the great state of New York. She is a newly self-published author of “The Cover Series.” She has always believed that one day she would become an author. She enjoyed reading and writing all of her life and had always felt that it was somewhat of a calling for her. At age 28, she had no idea that she would become an Erotic Romance Author, mostly because she had just gotten into reading Romances last year and instantly fell in love with the genre. Kim enjoys the passions of love and believes that there is no greater feeling than the initial jilt we get when we first meet that right person. Wanting to provide romance readers with stories that they can feel and get lost in, Kim decided in September 2013 to become a published author.
