Author Spotlight: Kim Black

The Jazzy World of E's Bookshelf Author Spotlight is shinning on best selling author Kim Black today. Black is the author of the Cover Series and Uncovered Scars. She released the last book in the Cover Series, Take Cover in December, along with the first book in the Restoriation Trilogy, Uncovered Scars. Black talks about this and more in my interview with her below. It's my great pleasure to present to you Kim Black, today's Author Spotlight

Kim Black's Biography

Kim Black is the author of four independently published books, two of which reached Amazon Bestseller Status in Women’s Fiction and Romantic Suspense. She is newly engaged to a wonderful man and is working on planning her wedding. She currently resides in Bronx, NY but is a true Brooklyn girl. You can take the girl out of Brooklyn... you know...

Kim holds a Degree in Graphic Design and Animation but have always enjoyed writing. From the time she picked up her first book in a 6th grade school library, she fell in love with the idea of getting lost in another world and wants to provide that for her readers. Since that day, she began writing short stories and poems. It wasn't until last year that she decided to take a chance at self-publishing an erotic romance series and thankfully I have been fortunate enough to have gained a fan base.

THE COVER SERIES is an erotic romance series, including Discovered (published December 2013), Cover Up (published May 2014), and Take Cover (published December 2014). She also has a novella titled Uncovered Scars (published November 2014), which is book one of The Restoration Trilogy, a spin-off series from The Cover Series.

She has had the privilege of taking part of a Best Selling Anthology, Playing with Fire: Twelve Romantic Suspense Novels that Sparked Bestselling Series (published November 2014).

While her currently published books have all been erotic romance, they have all provided her readers angst and suspense and were never predicable. She is very much interested in publishing more suspenseful novels in the future.

An Interview with Kim Black

Hello Kim, thank you for the opportunity to interview you. At the end of last year you released the final book in the Cover Series, Take Cover, how did you feel finishing Emily and Julien's story?
It was definitely difficult to wrap up their story since I had been with them for an entire year. Because at the end of the day, it truly feels like I had in fact been with them. So saying goodbye was hard but at the same time it was exciting to finally give them their happy ending and for that I am happy.

You also released Uncovered Scars, book one in the spin off Restoration trilogy the same time as Take Cover, when did you know you want to write this new trilogy?
Right after Discovered, Book 1 of The Cover Series was released my readers began asking questions about Diana. Why would she do this? Did she really do that? Etc. By the time Cover Up, Book 2, was release I had pretty much made my mind up that I needed to give the readers Diana’s story. Give her a chance to explain herself. Why? Because I feel like all my character, even the villains are people we all know and we need to hear them out too.

How has the reception been to Diana’s story?
There has been some who are down right against anything Diana. LOL and I have made it mission to convert them. Others, are beginning to understand her more. They aren’t necessarily liking her choices but they see why a person with her background might be prone to making these kind of choices.

What can readers expect from the second book in the series?
Book 2 of The Restoration Trilogy is going to be an emotional rollercoaster. It will cover the entire year after Emily and Adam broke up and end up in the middle of Cover Up. It will be longer of course. Not sure if anyone notices but I tend to make my books 2’s on the long side compared to the other books of the series lol I plan on giving my readers a lot of the meat of the story in Book 2 so I think they are going to enjoy it.

What has been your favorite part about being an author?
Listening to the reactions and responses I get from readers. Anyone who knows me can vouch for the fact that I am 100% approachable with my readers. If you have a question or just wanna chit-chat, no problem with me. Sometimes I am literally pming my readers as they are reading, laughing when I get messages like, “OM” or “Are you kidding me?” in reference to a plot twist. I love it!

Are there any upcoming projects you can tell us about?
I am currently working on a set of super short Novella’s that super sexy and really hot. The series is called ‘Just One Night’ and the first volume is set to be released on the 16th of February. The 2nd and 3rd will be release only a few weeks apart. I wanted to give my reader something sexy to read while they wait for Book 2 of The Restoration Trilogy. I hope that they will enjoy it.

I am also working on a full length Romantic Suspense Novel but I don’t have a release date for that book as of yet.

Who are some of the authors who have inspired you?
Colleen Hoover, Maya Cross, and Maya Banks are my favorite authors. I hope to one day be like them, strong women who are living their dreams.

What do you hope readers take away from your books?
We are all flawed. We all encounter difficult circumstances. But, there is one thing that prevails everything and that one thing is love. With love all things are possible. With love we can heal broken spirits, mend broken relationship, or forgive the seemingly unforgivable. At the end of the day I just want to spread the love. :)

In 10 words or less, can you tell readers who are new to you, why they should read your books?
Get captured in a story with characters you relate to.

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans or readers new to you?
I love you all and I look forward to writing my stories that my readers can get lost in. :)
