Jake Furie Lapin is a writer, entrepreneur, wine drinker and coffee addict based in New Jersey. Jake's writings aim to explore sexuality and sensuality, including the BDSM lifestyle, through the beauty of the written word. He is currently working on his first novel, The Spice of Life, which chronicles the many adventures of Jake Furie Lapin, a loving Dom, as well as Kelli Lemberg, his sex therapist. An Interview with Jake Furie Lapin

Congratulations on the upcoming release of your first book, The Spice of Life: Book 1: The Transformation, what inspired it and was this something you wanted to write about for awhile?

I always wanted to write, but my parents pushed me to a different career path. I believe things happen for a reason, truly, as I was destined to write about about my past.

You do have book blog, that includes The Spice of Life and Jake’s Chronicles. How was it transitioning from writing your book blog to writing a more structured book? 

I actually "blogged" the book, I had a script already designed for the book, so it was actually in reverse. It was easy as most of it was my personal histories.

The Spice of Life is going to be a three part series. What made you decide to go with three books in telling Jake’s Journey? Did you want it setup in a three act structure?

I just happened to like trilogies, and I designed it initially that way. However, I just recently chopped book 1 in half, so now it's a 4 part book. Additionally, I have developed the characters so much, it may be even a 5 or 6 part series.

There has been an increase of more authors coming out and writing about a BDSM lifestyle. What would you say sets your book apart from others?
Mine is real and powerful. I've been in BDSM since late 90s. So I have more of a history than most. As well as I still live the lifestyle.

What do you hope readers take away from your book?

Give everyone a chance. Don't judge. We aren't built to be with just one.

You have a strong online presence using various social media platforms, what would you say are the advantages and drawbacks of using social media as an author?

Advantages are obvious, you can reach a large crowd very quickly with the internet, as well as be efficient at it. The drawbacks, tons of fakes and want to be accounts.

Indie authors have a grassroots approach to promoting their books. You yourself have the TSOL Vixens, that helps get your name out there on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. How do you feel having that support group of fans has helped you not only in a promotion aspect, but as an author as well?

I feel that once you learn the message, and become a TSOLVixen, attracting more people is easy, and helps promote the work and myself as an author. And we have grown organically to that message.

What has been your favorite part about writing TSOL?

Knowing other authors and meeting new people, like minded. I'm very amazed and flattered as how many people have helped, just to help.

When you're not writing, what do you like to do for fun?

Eat, socialize, watch history channel, poker tours, coach and play baseball.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

Anne Rice, I don't reach much fiction

In 10 words or less, can you tell readers why they should read your book?

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans and readers new to your work?

I love meeting new people, read the blogs, all of them, then tell me if you are addicted to #tsol.
